Main duties:

• Make metal frames for installing glass,
• Install prefabricated glass, mirrors, or other glass products in place on a building’s walls, ceilings, or exterior,
• Place glass panes into frames and protect the glass with moldings, points, or clips,
• Build in, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or similar replacement goods in commercial and residential buildings,
• Build in pre-cut mirrors and opaque and transparent glass in frames to create building exterior walls,
• Determine the type and thickness of glass, frame, installation process, and the materials needed by reading and interpreting designs and specifications,
• Tint glass and make patterns on glass by etching, sandblasting, or painting designs,
• Measure and mark or cut glass using glass cutters or an automated cutter,
• Repair and maintenance residential windows, commercial aluminum doors, and other glass supporting structures, and replace cracked or broken glass or weak seals,
• Operate auto CAD and other computer software skills,
• Estimate costs and materials.

 

Qualifications & skills:

• Completion of secondary school is required,
• 3 – 5 years of work experience in the related field.
